The Toy Store

The Toy Store

The toy store’s open twenty-four hours a day.
Browse as long as you wish. Choose a toy and then play.

Some toys are quite expensive while others come cheap.
No money is required, yet a debt you’ll keep.

So many pretty colors, you can hardly choose.
So many different choices, surely you can’t loose

Then your eye catches a perfect toy, just for you.
So you take it from the shelf, and do what you do.

Ignoring the price tag; you think your credits good
Not reading the directions; though you know you should

Tearing open the box, ripping away the tags
Throwing away the receipt along with the bags

Fixated on playing with your new favorite toy
This new toy which now brings you so very much joy

Abruptly ignoring all other toys you own
These same toys which once got the attention now shown….

To this new toy which now entertains all your needs;
The toy that’s nourishing your ego which it feeds…

At least until the newness wears off anyway…..
Then back to the toy store open twenty-four hours a day.
